Male NPT both ends forged hex nipple in Stainless Steel 304/316, Duplex Steel and Super Duplex Steel — hex centre body for wrench engagement, manufactured to ASME B16.11 in Class 3000# and 6000#.
The Forged Threaded Hex Nipple is a short forged fitting with male NPT external threads at both ends and a hexagonal centre body between the two threaded sections. The male threads at each end screw into the female-threaded outlets of two separate fittings — such as a valve and a tee, or two couplings — joining them in a straight run with a very short standoff distance. The hex centre body allows a spanner or wrench to be applied at the midpoint of the fitting to tighten or remove it without gripping the threads.
The hex nipple is specified wherever a short, wrench-installable connector is required between two female-threaded fittings — particularly where there is insufficient clearance for a pipe wrench on a plain round nipple. The forged body provides significantly better mechanical integrity at the threaded sections than a cut nipple machined from bar stock, since the forging process aligns the grain structure with the thread profile. Cunimet Alloy International manufactures threaded hex nipples through closed-die forging with both thread ends and the hex centre machined from a single forged blank.
“L” = Overall end-to-end length. “W” = Hex body width across flats. Male NPT threads at both ends per ASME B1.20.1. BSP threads to BS EN 10226 available on request. All dimensions in millimetres.

Austenitic stainless steel hex nipples for joining female-threaded fittings in chemical, pharmaceutical, food and water treatment screwed piping systems. SS 316 preferred for marine, offshore and chloride-bearing service environments.
High-strength duplex alloy hex nipples for connecting valves, instruments and fittings in offshore process piping, chemical plant screwed systems and desalination plant utility lines where resistance to chloride corrosion is required throughout the threaded joint.
Premium super duplex hex nipples with PREN greater than 40 for connecting female-threaded fittings in seawater service, offshore topsides and aggressive offshore environments where maximum corrosion resistance at every male thread surface is mandatory.

Joining two female-threaded fittings directly back to back — such as a valve body to a tee outlet, or a coupling to a globe valve — with a short hex nipple where no plain pipe length is required between the fittings.
Installations where a pipe wrench cannot be used because there is insufficient clearance around the nipple body. The hex profile allows an open-ended spanner to be applied at the centre of the fitting for tightening and removal.
Connecting pressure gauges, thermowells, control valves and isolation valves to process tapping points and manifold outlets in screwed instrument piping systems in Stainless Steel or Duplex Steel.
Short male-to-female connections throughout offshore screwed piping systems in Super Duplex Steel for seawater service, and in Stainless Steel 316 for chemical process instrument and utility connections requiring corrosion-resistant male thread surfaces.
Male NPT, closed body. Screws into female fittings.
