NPT forged threaded cap in Stainless Steel 304/316, Duplex Steel and Super Duplex Steel — one female NPT threaded end and a closed forged end, manufactured to ASME B16.11 in Class 2000#, 3000# and 6000#.

The Forged Threaded Cap is used to close and pressure-seal the open end of a threaded pipe. The female NPT thread at the open end screws onto the male-threaded pipe end, blanking off the pipe bore and providing a pressure-tight closure that can be removed and replaced without damaging either the pipe or the cap. The opposite end is a solid forged dome that provides the full pressure containment.
Threaded caps are used for pipe end protection during construction, for pressure testing (removed and reinstalled repeatedly), and for permanent blanking of unused threaded outlets on tees, crosses and manifolds. Unlike a plug (which is screwed into a female fitting), the threaded cap screws over a male-threaded pipe end, providing full end closure with a smooth external profile. Cunimet Alloy International manufactures threaded caps through closed-die forging, producing a strong, dense body at the junction between the thread and the closed dome.
“L” = Overall length from the face of the female NPT thread opening to the outside face of the closed end. Thread form per ASME B1.20.1 (NPT). BSP threads to BS EN 10226 available on request. All dimensions in millimetres.

Dimensions are nominal per ASME B16.11 latest edition. BSP threads to BS EN 10226 available on request. All dimensions in millimetres.
Has a female NPT thread inside. Screws over the outside of a male-threaded pipe end to close it. The cap body extends around the outside of the pipe thread, giving a smooth external profile over the closed end of the pipe.
Has male NPT threads on the outside. Screws into a female-threaded fitting outlet to close it. The plug body sits inside the fitting and leaves the hex head exposed on the face of the fitting for wrench engagement.
Austenitic stainless steel threaded caps for closing pipe ends in chemical, food, pharmaceutical and water treatment screwed piping systems. SS 316 is preferred for chloride-bearing environments including marine, coastal and offshore applications.
High-strength duplex alloy threaded caps for blanking pipe ends in offshore process piping, chemical plant screwed connections and desalination utility systems where chloride stress corrosion cracking resistance is required.
Premium super duplex threaded caps with PREN greater than 40 for blanking pipe ends in seawater service, offshore topsides and aggressive offshore environments where maximum corrosion resistance at every closed pipe end is specified.

Screwed onto the male-threaded ends of pipes, nipples and threaded fittings to close them permanently or temporarily. Removable at any time by unscrewing, unlike welded blank closures that require cutting to remove.
Temporarily sealing threaded pipe ends during hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing of screwed piping systems before connection to instruments, valves and equipment. Removed and reinstalled multiple times.
Blanking off threaded pipe stubs, vessel nozzles and tee branch outlets that are installed for future use, maintaining system pressure boundary while providing a threaded connection point that can be opened when needed.
Protecting the male pipe threads of installed piping from damage, corrosion and contamination during the construction and commissioning phases before the final instrument or equipment connection is made.
